The idea of “it’s good to be….. us!”
Life can be pretty rough and weird at times, but this is absolutely no excuse to waste or lament it. I use to say it is the intensity of life that matters to me, not the length. I go wherever it takes me to catch these very special moments, places and people you’ll never forget and which you can certainly not buy.
Life is one big experiment, but since we only got one shot it is probably better to get involved in the script.
I have chosen to get myself out of the traditional way of existing, although I believe in traditional values (I mean, there’s nothing cheap about loyalty, right?). I left the “easy” 9-to-5 path because it just didn’t make me happy, it didn’t fulfill me, it didn’t take me higher. All this obviously wasn’t me.
So, whenever I could I went out into the world and see what’s going on there.
Hence, traveling became essentially a very important way for me to leave what you know as reality and slip into a series of dreams, and if it’s just for awhile. Any moment where you are at one with the universe counts. It doesn’t necessarily mean you need to go on the other side of planet earth (although that sounds like fun – and in fact it is!), you might just need to take one step ahead to gain a different and maybe better perspective to a lot of things around you. That’s usually where I try to be.
However, there are two things in life that stand out more than anything else. That is the music of Bruce Springsteen his legendary E Street Band and the football of FC Barcelona. If you haven’t seen this with me, you haven’t seen me. Roughly 50 concerts of “The Boss” and around 25 games in the Nou Camp speak a clear language, doesn’t it?
So, to cut a long story short… what I do try is to live my life differently, and I document the madness here at this blog.
Don’t just talk about your dreams, go out and make them real… because when it comes to luck, hell you better make your own – and this my friends, this is why it is good to be…. us!
Let’s talk about it further on up the road. Well, and if not… then just don’t get up gentlemen, I’m only passing through!
A liner note about the blog’s content
My lifestyle is certainly strongly based on traveling this beautiful planet, consequently this topic is a centerpiece of this blog. However, this is certainly not another backpacker-blog. Not that there’s anything bad about it, don’t get me wrong! It’s just… not my idea of living and getting around – at least for most of the time (remember, rules are meant to be broken!).
I don’t think that there’s anything wrong with using cabs, real suitcases, drinking champagne (okay, vodka) in a lounge or sleep in cozy Business or First Class while crossing the big pond. Same goes with proper hotels in decent locations. I guess apart from that it is pretty much like backpacking, right? Oh, wait…. I forgot the restaurant-thing!
The great thing about it: you don’t have to be a millionaire to travel like one (although it helps). There are so many great ways to travel and reside in style, it is amazing! Travel-hacking is probably one of the best things on earth I know at least a little bit about!
Still, there might be a lot of occasions where taking it very basic and simple might be more appropriate. Just like always in life – try to figure out the best option in any situation and just don’t get caught in a pigeonhole!
There are a lot of different reasons why I go on the road: concerts, football, culture or just pure curiosity! Essentially, it is all about enriching your life, to create one helluva ride and thrilling experience while you exist as a human being.
I consider traveling as part of the journey, so it is way more than just getting from A to B in my eyes. So, to know me means to fly with me. You might hate it, but I feel at home. Between 2012-14 alone I sure knocked it at way over over 350 flights (70% business related), spend more than 300 nights in hotels (allegedly) and still couldn’t get enough to be out on the road.
So this is what I am writing about here. Whenever I read blogs I might just enjoy the pure reading of it or I might be getting a lot of ideas, and ideas that lead to new ideas. Some of them you will also find here, because this is my turn to provide some inspiration to you. Well, and for me it is a great we to keep a nice little journal of what I did.
Let’s cut a long story short
The main content will be about traveling:
- First & Business Class flights and corresponding lounges (hence, the aviation part)
- Hotels & hotel resorts
- Restaurants, cafes & clubs
Furthermore, there will be a few posts about events, typically:
- Music & other entertaining events (live concerts are my life’s blood)
- Sports (I just love going to stadiums and see games live!)
Anything else that does not really fit in one of those two main categories will be part of my journal.
I also try to post each week a “Photo of the week” on this blog. However, if you want to check out my full portfolio please have a look at “Lenscraper.net“. Here you not only find the photos in high quality, but you also can buy prints of them and help me get a warm meal tonight.
Now, if there is anything that requires more clarification, it’s easy to
find contact me!
Note: This side contains references to Bruce Springsteen & Bob Dylan songs and the “Up in the Air” movie – just in case you didn’t notice!
