In my impressum I state:
All posts are the opinion of the author (yes, me again). Whenever I have received any financial or non-financial goods in exchange (such as sponsored posts, affiliate partnerships, etc) this will be clearly visible at each relevant post. In all of these cases I will make sure that my opinion remains totally unbiased.
So what does it actually mean? Everything I do, everything I post I do so because I think it is worthwhile sharing. Some readers might find it informative, some entertaining and others maybe boring. The crucial point is: it’s all me and my view of things, independet how a certain flight, hotel stay or trip might have happened and how it was funded.
Usually I fund all this stuff myself. Sometimes simply by paying cash, sometimes using points of the various loyalty programmes or by making use of special/promo/error-fares. In a lot of the cases it is actually a combination of these things. The world is not free, but one can optimize things!
I could not really afford a 10.000€ First-Class ticket, but there is enough information how to end up with the same thing but just a “bit” cheaper. I used to travel a lot for work, and as I am “my own company” I have to pay all my bills myself. This creates a whole lotta loyalty points (my main loyalty programmes are Miles & More [M&M], Starwood Preferred Guest [SPG] and British Airways Executive Club [BAEC]) which I can spend on flights, hotel stays or simply transfer from one programme to another.
There are a lot of folks out there doing all this travelhacking way more professionally than I do – but this is basically the foundation of all those fancy adventures I blog about. However, even in cases where something was not or not fully funded by myself I ensure it is not gonna affect my opinion. Easy as that.
